What’s in a Name?

When we first started writing about our family I was stunned at the numerous variants of our last name found throughout Syria and the world at large. We have found no fewer than nineteen such variants and counting.

We go into some detail as to why this might be on the Family Name portion of the website. Suffice to say it is somewhat unique to Arab culture and history. Of course part of that culture would be my father’s opinion that the spelling he used was the correct one but that is another story.
