Known as sarma to some – it was always just plain mechshi in our house. Sometimes Mom would stuff grape leaves, sometimes eggplants, but my favorite was cabbage leaves. Steamed cabbage leaves stuffed with a mixture of ground beef and rice seasoned with allspice, pepper, salt, mint, garlic, and lemon juice. Just what the doctor ordered. Mmm, mmm.
