Argentina has long been a destination for the Syrian diaspora. This includes voluntary immigration and a relatively welcoming place for refugees as well. Our paternal grandfather Abdul Rahman Saydjari (father to our father, Mohammed) moved to Argentina around the beginning of the nineteenth century. Starting as a worker in a street kiosk selling various goods, he eventually bought his own kiosk and eventually a successful department store. He married in Argentina and had a family there. Unfortunately, we know almost nothing more about our grandfather or any relatives in Argentina. If visitors to the family website or social media group have photographs or stories to tell of Abdul Rahman Saydjari or family from Argentina, please share.
